Post-Workout Recovery at Home: Massage Gun, Mat and Stretching
Share
Training hard is only half the job. The other half is recovery: that's when your muscles repair and get stronger. You don't need a physio every week; a few simple tools at home make a big difference.
Why recovery matters
- Less soreness the next day.
- Better mobility and fewer injuries.
- You train more often and progress faster.
1. Massage gun
Use it 1–2 minutes per muscle group, moving slowly. Start on the lowest speed and avoid bones, joints and the neck. Great for legs after running or jumping and for shoulders after climbing.

2. A good mat
A thick, non-slip mat makes stretching comfortable on any floor. A folding one fits in a cupboard or a car.

3. A 10-minute stretching routine
- Hamstring stretch, 30 s per leg
- Hip flexor lunge, 30 s per side
- Pigeon pose, 30 s per side
- Child's pose, 45 s
- Shoulder and chest opener against a wall, 30 s per side
- Cat–cow, 10 slow reps
Breathe slowly and never force the stretch.
4. Sleep, water and food
No tool replaces 7–9 hours of sleep, drinking enough water and eating protein after training.
Who it's for
Perfect for runners, gym-goers, parkour and padel players, or anyone searching for muscle recovery tools at home, a massage gun for sore muscles or an easy stretching routine after workout.
